6 Proven Ways to Fix No Internet Connection Issues on your Computer

The Internet found its way to every pore of our bodies, and little is the number of things we can do without it. Although the infrastructure is being upgraded constantly, Internet outages are not a thing of the past yet. They appear out of nowhere, like a plague, and paralyse you and all the activities you do.

Ensure that cables are plugged in correctly

Although cats, dogs, and other pets don’t browse the net or chat online, they are big fans of it - of the cables that is, finding them to be a nice for teeth sharpening, or playing. Maybe you don't have an Internet access, or your internet connection keeps dropping because of an unplugged or loosened Ethernet cable.

Also, the cable might be damaged. Even though you consume Internet Wi-Fi, remember that the Ethernet cable still pulls the plug - the one who can pull the Ethernet cable pulls the plug. Restart the router

Scan for viruses

Viruses can seriously harm our computers and data, as well as the Internet speed. They come out of nowhere and cause chaos. The best way to get rid of them is to catch them while they are asleep, because when they are awake, one would certainly escape. Access Safe Mode (Windows only), (re)install your antivirus and start scanning. Once the scan is completed and if viruses are found, click on the Delete button to remove them. Enable the Wi−Fi card

If you cannot connect to the Internet and the router is working fine, it is possible that you have accidentally disabled the wireless card/adapter (Wi-Fi). Set your computer to obtain an IP address automatically

If you don’t have a driver’s license, you won’t be able to drive a car (legally). If you don’t have a passport, you won’t be able to leave your country (legally).

If your computer is not allocated an IP address, it won’t connect to the Internet (in any way). Usually, IP address is obtained automatically by your computer, however, maybe you have disabled that option accidentally. You can verify and activate automatic obtaining of IP address, by following the steps below:

- Windows

1) Right-click the Windows icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen and select Control Panel
2)  In the search box, type adapter, and then, under Network and Sharing Center, click View network connections
3) Right-click the Local Area Connection (or the Ethernet) icon and select Properties

*If your computer is connected to the Internet, via Wi-Fi, you need to right-click the Wi-Fi connection.
4) Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) from the list of items and click Properties

5) Select the round buttons next to Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically and click OK twice to close the remaining windows.

- Mac

1) Click the Apple icon in the top-left corner of your desktop and select System Preferences

2) Click on Network

3) In the Network window, next to Show, select Built-in Ethernet

4) Click on the TCP/IP button

5) Configure IPv4, by selecting Using DHCP from the drop-down list

6) Click Apply Now and close the windows

Change the DNS settings

Wrong DNS settings can be the reason for your computer to be cut off from the Internet. In order to go online again, you will need to change the DNS settings for good. Initially, DNS should be handled by the ISP you are subscribed to, however, you have the possibility to change them by yourself. The most reliable DNS server is the one of Google, which you can easily switch to - i.e.
