When you have a Mac computer, usually updates are looked forward to. They patch up security issues and generally offer a better experience. For some reason, these upgrades are hit or miss.
There are a lot of people still using Windows XP for instance, since they didn’t like the experience with newer Windows OS. which is why it is necessary to have a head to head comparison of the old and new version to see if it’s worth it to upgrade.
Windows 11 is set to be released sometime later this year so those with Windows 10 editions are wondering if they should bother. In this article, we will compare them so you can decide for yourself if you need to upgrade or should stick with what you know.
Multitasking
Both Windows 10 and 11 have the familiar Snap Layouts for multitasking and organizing your workflow. Windows 11 takes it to another level, however.
For instance, you can save your Snap Layouts and save them in groups in your taskr. Then you hover over them to open in various sizes. In Windows 10 you have to either use a keyboard shortcut or hover them to a certain part of the screen. So, both cases require a manual operation instead of it being more automatic.
Also, if you use an external monitor for a PC, Windows 10 will remember how you have it set up so if you switch monitors or need to unplug it, it will automatically reset with your preferred layout.
Gaming
When it comes to the visuals of your gaming on Windows 11, there will be little comparison with the previous version. It takes some of the tech from the XBox Series X and uses Auto HDR for crisp and realistic looking colors.
Then there is the actual performance which is vastly improved. Lag is reduced considerably since Windows 11 allows for assets to be loaded directly to the graphics card without the CPU getting overloaded.
Also, when you connect to the latest high end components, DirectX Ultimate is supported so you don’t have to worry about compatibility.
Hardware issues
A funny quirk about upgrading to Windows 11 is that you may not even be able to do so. There have been a lot of people who tried to test the beta version for review and their current system doesn’t support the new OS.
This is even when they have met all the system minimum requirements to be able to download it and run it. Could it be that Microsoft would rather that you didn’t upgrade your old OS and instead are pushing for people to buy a new computer?
Motives aside, this is something to be aware of before deciding to upgrade. You may just have to be content with downloading updates on Windows 10 until they no longer support it. Before you make the leap, try to see if your system is going to support it or not.
